The Behavioral Epidemiology Research Group (BERG)is a collaborative group of researchers who focus on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and related issues such as sexual health, new technologies and approaches for HIV/STI prevention and treatment, and substance use prevention and practice. We utilize a bio-behavioral approach to research and work in diverse communities conducting research in partnership with community agencies, clinics, research organizations, universities, and public health departments. Our current studies focus on:
- The effect of health disparities on minority men who have sex with men
- Acceptability of and adherence to new technologies for HIV prevention and retention in care
- Sexual health of young adults
- Medical injection use in Cambodia
- Measurement and analysis of partnership level risks for STIs including HIV
